and so following on from the previous article…
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with loathing Margaret Thatcher or any other person with political influence and power based upon perceived bad acts, and that doesn’t change simply because they die. If anything, it becomes more compelling to commemorate those bad acts upon death as the only antidote against a society erecting a false and jingoistically self-serving history.”
after the work for benefits scheme was deemed illegal (forcing people to work for hundreds of hours unpaid, not providing them with the necessary information to claim or protect their benefits whilst on the schemes, those on disability benefits being coerced into work, regardless of what their health issues were) the courts ruled the government should repay the £130 million they owed to people who had been the victims of the scheme.
now duncan smith is pushing through a bill to see that the government doesn’t have to pay this money out
those of you in england, please please take some time to contact your local representative and urge them to vote no on this bill which is being debated on tuesday the 19th of march. if this bill goes through it will not only affect some of the most vulnerable people in the country but continue a precedent for the government to break the law without repercussions, ignoring not just the courts but ultimately the voice of the people they supposedly represent, pushing england down a path that undermines and destroys everything we have achieved in social justice since the Attlee ministry.

this doesn’t even touch on the amount of unclaimed benefit - which is factored into the budget but not actually used
compare benefit fraud to tax fraud and ask which is really affecting our economy
politicians should live on the same wages as those on benefits - only then will we see a system that treats those struggling with finding employment (for whatever reasons) with the compassion, help and financial support they actually need
watching the complete dismantling of the welfare state by the coalition is truly heartbreaking

check this video out to learn more about HSBC laundering money for drug cartels, terrorist organisations and other shady groups
and why they got fined but not prosecuted
the FBI sends activists to jail without trial for ‘domestic terrorism’ but when a major company aids the flow of billions to terrorist groups (in direct conflict with the international emergency economic powers act - not that it ever stopped the likes of ford) they look the other way
prosecution of drug cases normally sees the seizing of all assets but in the settlement HSBC paid around 20% of the profit they made by helping huge drug cartels - so essentially the government is just taking a cut of
despite receiving cease and desist letters from the FBI years ago in relation to their illegal activities HSBC continued to break the law and make huge profit
and they and other banks will continue to do so - because there is simply no accountability or anyone willing to prosecute these racketeers
as taibbi ends the interview
‘where’s the downside? if you’re gonna do this [laundering money for criminal groups] you’re not gonna go to jail, you’re gonna pay, personally, a fine and your company might actually make more money in the end. So the message to everybody, all across the financial system is just take as much illegal money as you can and don’t worry about it.’
